Clean The Air!

Now that it's winter and most of us are in the house due to cold weather, the air in the house sometimes needs to be refreshed.

Make your own flameless gel candles
One way to freshen the air is by making a No-Flame Gel Candle.  These are perfect if you're travelling or to use at home without worrying about little ones or pets coming in contact with an open flame.  Keep a lid on the gel candle when it's not in use and the scent will last for several weeks.

1 cup cool water, divided
1 package gelatin mix
1/2 teaspoon vodka
1/2 teaspoon of essential oil (your favorite)

Bring 1/2 the water to a boil. Add the gelatin to the boiling water, stirring to dissolve. Add the remaining 1/2 cup of cool water and stir again. Add the vodka and essential oil and stir until blended. Pour into a clean glass jar and allow the gel candle to set for about 30 minutes.

To use, place the gel candle on a shelf, table or windowsill, but avoid placing it in direct sunlight or near heat. Keep a lid on the candle when not in use to extend its shelf life.

You can have fun making these candles and using various types of glass holders - they're also great to give as gifts.  Enjoy!
